Food Sources for Unit Game Food.
Cakes: Sheet cakes from Costco or Sam’s Club,
currently around $ 16 per cake, results in 48 servings per cake.
Other
Cakes/Brownies: Try to get volunteers to
bake a cake(s) at home and bring it to the game. The cost of ingredients is usually around
$3-4. Store bought cakes are much more
expensive and they don’t taste anywhere near as good as a home made cake. Have the volunteer bring the receipts for the
ingredients. (Most just donate the
cake.)
Most
of the area Supermarkets has deli counters that will prepare food in the
quantities we need. Most of their prices
are fairly competitive. Most will offer
a 10% discount to groups like ours.
Example-General
Prepared food, chicken pieces and side dishes:
STATER Bros. Market has offered a $25
discount upon presentation of documentation of the Unit Tax ID and Non Profit
status.
One
should consider whether they will deliver the food. Most won’t which means you will have to pick
it up in time to be ready to serve at 12:00 Noon. The closer the source is less time required
for you.
Costco
& Sam’s Club are a good source for foods in quantity.
Sometimes
their prices are a little high and the packages are too small or too big for
the quantities we need.
KEEP
ALL OF THE RECEIPTS FOR THE FOOD YOU PURCHASE.
Total up all the receipts and present them to the Treasurer for payment,
usually the day of the Unit Game.
