ELIZABETH JEREMIAS BROWN "Carrie" May 3, 1921 - April 4, 2006

Carolyn was born in Laton, CA to Frances Simas Jeremias and Antonio
Bernardo Jeremias. She went home to be with our Lord and Savior on
Tuesday, April 4, 2006, in Fresno, CA. Carolyn married Donald Brown in
1946 and together they lived in El Centro, CA, Washington D.C., San
Juan Puerto Rico, Mexico City and Phoenix, AZ. Carolyn lived many years
in Mexico where she raised her two children and performed the duties of
a diplomat's wife while her husband was attached to the U.S. Embassy
there. As Vice Chairman of the Embassy Wives group, she was active in
many projects promoting goodwill there. After 32 years of government
service, Carolyn and Don retired to Clovis in 1976 where they enjoyed
gardening and raising cattle on their five acre hobby farm. They moved
to Fresno in 1990. Carolyn was a volunteer with the St. Agnes Hospital
Guild and helped in the hospital gift shop, as well as volunteering at
Nazareth House. Carolyn was also an active member of the Fig Garden
Women's Club and an honorary member of the PearL Harbor Survivors
Association, Chapter 8 in Fresno. Carolyn was an avid Bridge player.
She was a member of the Fresno Bridge Club as well as several Bridge
groups where she made many friends and played in many duplicate Bridge
tournaments. In addition to Bridge, Carolyn's hobbies were painting and
gardening. She was a talented artist. Above all, Carolyn was devoted to
her family and children and especially her two adoring grandchildren
who she spoiled without end. Carolyn was preceded in death by Donald
Brown, her husband of 53 years. Carolyn is survived by her loving
family, son, Donald Brown, Jr. and his wife Cindy; her two
grandchildren Ben and Bethany of Cave Creek, AZ; her daughter, Deborah
Cordis-Weaver and her husband David of Auberry, CA; and her sisters,
Erma Trowe of Fresno and Alice Jeremias of San Mateo. She also leaves
behind her loving and devoted partner of six years, Don Merritt, who
was by her side until the end. "Do not cry for me for now I am free
following the path God laid for me". Carolyn Elizabeth Brown Viewing
will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Thrusday, April 6, 2006, from
10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00
p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic
Church on Friday, April 7, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. At Carolyn's request, in
lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Bella Vista Private
School, 6914 E. Bella Vista Drive, Cave Creek, AZ 85331. The school is
owned by Carolyn's daughter in-law, Cindy Brown and her sister, Lisa
Artenian. A scholarship Fund will be set up in Carolyn's name. LISLE
