  PRO-AM TEAMS JANUARY 27

Pro-Am teams have been a lot of fun - we'll try to have them a few more times in 2008.  We'll have a pot luck at 12:15, and drawings for teams about 12:55.  Play starts as soon as possible.   We'll put everyone's name into one of four bowls according to master points, pick one from each bowl for each team, and then play.   It's a lot of fun to see how you can do with a new partner - you may even find someone to play with in the future.  You won't need a partner - just come for the pot luck and enter the drawing.
UNIT NEWS
Congratulations to our newly elected or re-elected board members.   Paul Boyd, Kay Chrisman, Mary Jo Davila, Margaret Mahaffey, Richard Meffley, and Jill Wood were elected to serve in 2008 and 2009.  The first meeting of 2008 will be Sunday, January 13.  If you have any concerns that you want the board to hear, please let them or the continuing board members know.   The  continuing board members John Oakshott, Anita Penny, Dave Shuster, Dora Gostanian, and Bert Rettner.

Congratulations to Mike Molinari, winner of the 2007 distinguished service award.   He had done a lot to promote and help our beginning bridge players and their teachers.  Thanks for your efforts.

The Palm Springs regional marks the end of our association with District 22 as we continue our association with District 21.   Richard Meffley continued on the District 22 board until his term expired and new board members were welcomed.  Our long association with District 22 has been good for the unit.   Our members have served almost continuously on the D22 board since districts were formed.   Fresno Unit members have been president of District 22, and have served on the ACBL national board representing District 22.   District 22 has sponsored several regionals here.   We and District 22 were proud to host the 1980 North American championships here.   We have had several Grand National Team district winners and many North American Pairs district winners with District 22.   We expect that our association with District 21 will be just as fruitful.
