If your favorite partner is unavailable, partnership chairman Mun Takeda can help.....call her at 559-284-3750 or E-mail j.takeda@comcast.com. Lots of silver points are waiting for those who compete at the sectional. And don't forget the free lunch on Sunday! ANOTHER NEW LIFE MASTER! CLUB NEWS One of the big events of any year was the surprise 90th birthday party for Jane McCoy held on Saturday January 27th. It's been years since the clubhouse was so full of bridge players. Jane received the unit's distinguished service award twenty years ago, and has continued helping the unit and new players ever since. The surprise was nearly ruined, so organizers Mun Takeda and Verlee O'Neill threw a birthday party at the club the Friday before to divert attention from the big party. All Jane's friends contributed to give her a gift of bridge at the club every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a year. Saturday director John Schnell donated bridge on Saturday, too. Mun and Verlee and several others provided a great lunch and nice door prizes for almost everyone. It was a great afternoon. See pictures here. Top December winners in Madera ere Everett Bondeson, followed by Gay and Larry Slates and Jim Honeywell. Denny Green was the top player of 2006, followed by Everett Bondeson, Morgan Johnson, Bob Mortimer, and Larry and Gay Slates. Top Oakhurst players for 2006 are Wally Cucura, Don McCartin, Paul Mertens, Claire Molnar, Karen McCartin, Burke Zane, Mary-Gene Kreighoff, Everett Bondeson, Jim Honeywell, and Al Crane. January leaders are Bobbie Schlagel, Mary-Gene Krieghoff, Claire Molnar, Don McCartin, and Corey Cole. Maggie and Mary Lou are celebrating Valentine's Day, February 14, with drawings for prizes. Come and win! We will have another Swiss team game on Sunday, February 25, with red points to the winners and qualification to the district Grand National Teams in San Diego for those players who finish average or above. We haven't started the series game on Sunday yet - since all the games held in January and February have been championship games of one kind or another. Barbara Thacker was the top master point winner at the Fresno Bridge Club in December. Wanda Cardella was the top master point winner for 2006 with 134.31 master points. Steve Sharp, Jay Roll, Anita Penny and Monique Irion had over 100 master points. The 99er leader for December was Al Crane, followed by John and Peggy Oakshott. The top 2006 99er master point winner was Roberta Beam. Almost every club game in Fresno and Madera publishes the results on the internet.
