PLAY IN 299er SECTIONAL AUGUST 13-14

Our fourth annual 299er Sectional is this month.   Just think - a chance to win silver points without those pesky Life Masters in the way.  Only players with under 300 master points are eligible.   Game times are 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day.  The tournament ends with the traditional Swiss teams on Sunday afternoon.    The other sessions all have Stratified 299er pair games.   Also, there is a 0-5 game Saturday morning.   EasyBridgers can play in that event for the low introductory price of $3.00 per player.   Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning also include 49er sections, for those who recently started playing.

In-between sessions you can relax with a free lunch plus an instructive lesson hosted by Byron Steinert and Skip Miller.    Besides lunch, we'll have snacks, coffee and tea so you can keep up your strength for those tough games and slams.   Our hospitality chairmen Dora Gostanian and Judy Nicholson are among the best.  Come join in the fun!

The regular Sunday unit game will be held at 3:00 p.m., the same time as the afternoon session of the 299er Sectional.

Speedy recovery wishes go to Bert Rettner, who is in the hospital with back problems.  Ted Johnson is still recovering at the Armenian Home.
Welcome back to Oakhurst director Paul Mertens, who was vacationing in Europe.

WEDNESDAY EVENING GAME AND LESSONS
The lessons provided before the Wednesday evening game are designed to help players communicate with their partner, hence the title of the series: "Bridge, - A Second Language."  The Power Point Presentations, slides on the television set, start promptly at 6:40 p.m..  There will be one or two lessons on the play of the hand each month.  Handouts are distributed after each lesson.  Kay Chrisman, the director of the Unit's Wednesday evening game, will schedule an opportunity for Intermediate/Novice players with about 100 or more master points to play with a Life Master on the first Wednesday of each month.  Kay is considering a separate restricted session, provided, at least three tables are in play, so that players can improve their partnership play.  This session and lessons will help a dedicated partnership communicate better with each other and learn to play the same game together.  Come out with your favorite partner, enjoy the food and improve your partnership play. Future lessons are:
