PEGGY OCHS MEMORIAL GAME

The first Sunday in May is the annual Peggy Ochs Memorial game.    On that day, we remember Peggy Ochs, who directed every afternoon at the bridge club for many years.  When we had a party, she was the chief hostess.   We also remember all the unit members and players who have passed away in the last year.
There is no better way to remember Peggy than with a luncheon.  A pot luck lunch will start at 12:15 May 1.   Come,  bring a favorite food for the lunch,   and enjoy  with our unit members.  After the lunch, we'll play in the Unit Championship game at 1:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY EVENING LESSONS
Duplicate bridge lessons will be presented on Wednesday evenings at 6:40 p.m. beginning May 11, 2005.  Skip Miller, Dave Shuster, Byron Steinert and others will give the 15-minute lessons, complete with handouts, discussion and bidding practice.  Portions of the lessons will be Power Point presentations using the Unit’s computer/television system. Discussions on partnerships and bridge rules and etiquette will be dispersed throughout the lessons.  Bring your favorite partner and learn how to handle some usual and unusual bidding problems and declarer and defensive play to improve you game.  Kay Chrisman, the director of the Unit’s Wednesday evening game, will schedule an opportunity for the Intermediate/Novice players with about 100 or more master points to play with a life master on the first Wednesday of each month.

MENTORING PROGRAM

You cwn still join the mentoring program.    Ask a more experienced player to be your mentor, or call on of the unit directors -
Maggie Mahaffey, Barbara Thacker, or Kay Chrisman and we may be able to help.   Those who wish to mentor should let the the unit directors know that you are available.   Players who participate in the mentoring progrm on Wednesday night or Sunday afternoon each receive a $1 discount.
